February 10, 2006 cARTalog staffers Kristin and Kristi delivered 14 boxes of card catalog cards to artist Robert Possehl in Viroqua, WI. Robert is a visual artist who makes artist books and "drawings and/or books to walk in". Robert has generously agreed to create an installation piece "about the fall of the card catalog" for the upcoming exhibit. Known for his Labyrinth installations, this piece is surely not to be missed. View some of his work here and here.

January 31, 2006 over 50 pieces have been submitted for the General Exhibition which will be installed at the end of March.

November, 2005 Due to overwhelming response, deadlines for both the Mail Art and General Exhibitions are extended to January 31, 2006.

October, 2005 K-12 exhibition, UI Main Libraries. Card catalog artwork by nearly 200 kids, grades K-12.

September, 2005 The first mass card distribution is nearly completed.

August, 2005 Susan distributes over 3200 cards to Iowa City Community schools for the K-12 art project.

Summer, 2005 The project begins with artists and book enthusiaists hand picking cards at such events as Paper Book Intensive and The Changing Book conference.

February, 2005 1 million cards are salvaged. On ground hog day UI Libraries staff are invited to dig around the files and take cards for their own, before the cARTalog team boxes what they can and the remaining cards are recycled.
