cARTalog Exhibit Opening & Fringe Festival

As National Library Week comes to a close, join us for this Festival of art, culture and a celebration of the Libraries.This event is the culmination of the cARTalog project and will present both the visual and performing art projects that grew from our humble catalog cards.
The public non-juried art exhibition will feature the over 50 pieces have been submitted for thecARTalog general exhibition! Artists have responded with a range of fascinating works including books, collage, clothing, sculpture and an installation piece by artist Robert Possehl that will be suspended from the ceiling of the Main Library’s North Exhibition Hall. Some cARTalog artists will be on hand to visit with you about their work and the project.
The festival also will feature performing artists, including:
- local musician Peter Balestrieri and his improvisation group, Din
- a children's theatrical peformance of Laughter, Liberty, Library: A Card Catalogue Adventure written by UI Student Justine Nakase
- Comedy Improv by Lightening in a Bottle
