ABOUT: Early books were purchased from Lovell et al; sold some plates to Lovell in 1890 and concentrated on juveniles. 365 Washington in 1880, expanded to 361 Washington Street in 1882. In 1891 established a branch at 18 Astor Place, NYC. [DLB 49]. ... were one the few Boston publishers of cheap cloth-covered twelvemos during the 1870s and 1880s. They claimed that their popular twelvemos were "The best editions ever published for the money [1888-89 catalog]. These were turned over to Lovell's United States Book Company in 1890. [Shove].

DeWolfe, Fiske and Company was founded in 1880 by Perez Morton DeWolfe and Charles F. Fiske. This Boston firm began at 365 Washington. This house mostly published reprints frequently in series form. In the 1890's it was well known for its large chromo covered juveniles. The name was changed in 1905 to DeWolfe and Fiske.--[Sternick's Tom Brown bibliography].

1902 PTLA: These books are from a high-grade line of 12mos. They are on an extra grade of paper, well printed, bound in buckram cloth, gilt tops. Being the remainder of an edition, the quantities are limited. We offer them at a price much below that at which they were originally sold. [Only Lucile is offered].

No copies have been reported but note description of an edition with same title at E. A. Weeks & Co.
