A Man in the Kitchen chronicles the story of her father's adventures cooking breakfast for his children over the span of 25 years. It is housed in The Democratic Cook Book. Annie Tremmel Wilcox's text is typed on tissue paper-like pages that are interspersed throughout the recipe book.

Above: Two pages from The Search for Slow Grits. Wilcox's story focuses on her search for old-fashioned, slow grits. It is included on the Memo pages at the end of a previously written and published cook book of southern recipes.
