Hurst & Company Editions of Lucile

The Red Line Edition of the Poets, 1881-1899

Only one issue is illustrated in PTLA -- that of 1896. Earlier red line editions are presented here in the order, on stylistic grounds, that they may have been issued.

All copies appear to have this frontispiece:

Nd. 126x190mm, 334p. Frontispiece, illustrations. Red lines. Dark blue cloth stamped black and gold. Aeg. Buffalo & Erie County Public Library.

Scan taken from photocopy.

Nd. 190mm, 334p. A similar copy is reported by the University of Rochester. Note that lines have replaced floral motif in the center of the spine; cherub differs; and the upper panel on the top board differes in several respects.

Scans taken from photocopies.
