History
The
Thimble Club of Riceville, Iowa was organized in 1901 and federated in 1910. The
club had a set topic or theme for each year and met every two weeks for
readings, presentations, and discussions.
These topics ranged from “the Bible” and “Women in the Bible” to
“Territorial Possessions” and “South America.”
The club also planned social events for members.
Scope and Content Note
The Thimble Club records date from 1912 to 1957 and measure 1 linear inch. The records
include programs for the years 1912/1913 to 1917/1918 and 1946/1947 to 1956/1957
and two photographs of club members from 1948.
