History
The genesis of the Percival
Needlecrafters was a quilt fair and bazaar held in the Percival, Iowa gym on
June 14, 1975. Participating clubs in
the fair included the Best Ever Club and the Friendly Neighbors Club. The needlework club was an informal club
with no officers or dues. Anyone in the
community could participate.
The first meeting of the
needlecrafters was held on February 11, 1976.
During its first four years, the club made four quilts of traditional
patterns which were donated to the Percival Fire Department and subsequently
auctioned off to raise money for special needs of the fire department. Another major project of the club was to
make quilted lap robes which were donated to residents at area rest homes.
The Percival Needlecrafters
disbanded in late 1992.
