AMBER McCLINTIC (1960- ) PAPERS, 1976-1979
BiographyAmber Jacobsma was born on November 23, 1960 to Irma and Marvin Jacobsma. She grew up in Hartley, Iowa. In 1975 Jacobsma joined the local 4-H troop the Lucky Lincolns. Jacobsma served as secretary for the group in 1976. 1977 was a busy year for Jacobsma: she was elected to the County Council of 4-H, she was chosen to go to Holland with the “Iowa Caravan to the Netherlands” sponsored by 4-H, she was given the I Dare You award for qualities of leadership, she served on a home-economics judging team at the Clay County Fair and she was named the O’Brien County Fair Queen. Scope and Content Note The Amber Jacobsma McClintic papers date from1976 to 1979 and measure 5.5 linear inches. The papers highlight Amber Jacobsma’s 4-H activities in 1977. The collection consists of Jacobsma’s 1977 4-H record book, describing her activities in the club with words and photographs. There is also a 1977 scrapbook detailing Jacobsma’s summer trip to Holland with the “Iowa Caravan to the Netherlands.” Also preserved in the collection is the 1977 I Dare You award for qualities of leadership and the 1976 book “I Dare You” presented to Jacobsma at the same time. Jacobsma’s 4-H badge, the O’Brien County Fair Queen ribbon she wore, a project on Iowa and correspondence from the Dutch family she stayed with during her stay in Holland are also preserved.
