Biography
Catharine King Herr, born in 1885 in
Cedar City, Iowa, was a farm wife all of her life. She married Herbert Neal Herr in 1906 and raised her family in
the house she inherited from her grandfather.
She kept a diary for thirty-three years, from 1945 until her death in
1978.
Scope and
Content Note
The excerpts from the diary of Catharine King Herr were transcribed
by her son, King Herr. They include
1976 and 1978 entries covering daily activities, family history and social
interactions on the farm. Photocopies
of photographs of two corn cribs, the farmstead, Catharine Herr's parents and
additional information are located at the end of the transcript. An alphabetical index of the individuals
mentioned in the transcript has been included with the diary excerpts.
