Biography
Eileen Ferreter was born on May 4, 1915 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her father passed away in 1924, when she was nine years old. Ferreter attended Marion High School and then went on to Iowa State Teachers College, where she was a member of Kappa Delta Pi and the honorary club Purple Arrow. After graduating from college in 1935, Ferreter held a teaching position in Wellsburg, Iowa followed by a position in Tipton, Iowa where she taught the sixth grade. In June of 1942, she was married to Theodore Albaugh. Eileen Albaugh taught junior high at Tipton from 1944 to 1952, when bulbar polio caused her death at the age of 37.
Scope and Content Note
The Eileen Ferreter Albaugh papers date from 1914 to 1952 and measure 2.5 linear inches. The biographical information includes an invitation to her parents’ wedding, and newspaper clippings. The school papers include formal notes, essays, papers, poems, and scripts. Papers concerning Albaugh’s education include correspondence regarding the Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa). Papers concerning Albaugh’s teaching career include contracts and certificates.
