This collection is often called `Bibliothèque d'Ahmadou' or `Fonds Archinard,' after Colonel Louis Archinard who organized the seizure of Segou in 1890 and sent the captured library back to Paris. The manuscripts related to Umar Tal, father of Aohmad al Kabuir Madanui; the latter's reign from 1864 to 1884, and the Holy War of 1852." YALE
