USA PATRIOT Act

Libraries, ACLU Present Program on the USA PATRIOT Law at the Puffin Foundation November 12, 2003

The USA PATRIOT Act and its effect on civil liberties is a matter of intense national and local debate. The
New Jersey American Civil Liberties Union, the Englewood Public Library, the Teaneck Public Library
and the Puffin Foundation have joined together to sponsor a program titled: “USA PATRIOT: What’s Next? Who’s Next? What We Can Do!” on Wednesday evening, November 12 at 7:00 pm at the Puffin Foundation, 20 Oakdene Ave. E. in Teaneck, New Jersey.

Featured speakers will be Ann Beeson, the Associate Legal Director of the American Civil Liberties Union
and Nancy Kranich, past President of the American Library Association. John Flynn, a political
folksinger from Delaware, will join in with his original and timely songs.

The meeting will be organized as conversation between our two speakers, musical interludes and questions
from the floor. Emphasis will be placed on current activities and legislation seeking to curb USA PATRIOT and what US people can do to defend civil liberties.

The program is free and open to the public. For more information call Ann Sparanese, Head of Adult & Young Adult Services at the Englewood Library, 201-568-2215,
ext 229.
